Alberta Immigration Nominee Program
One of the prominent provinces in Canada to not only work but also migrate and settle, Alberta in Western Canada is a fantastic choice for foreign individuals seeking Permanent Residence in Canada. With a flourishing economy and impressive geolocation, the province has a thriving oil industry and agricultural production. Alberta is also home to the largest cities of Canada, Calgary, and Edmonton.
Ideal for immigration and working, Alberta province has no provincial sales tax and the overall cost of living and housing is considerably cheaper. Candidates with skills to either start a business or fill job shortages in the labor market can apply for immigration through the Alberta Nominee Program. It also allows migration with the applicant’s immediate family members such as children, spouse, and common-law partner.
In order to attract more eligible foreign individuals for immigration, two new PNP streams were introduced in April, the Alberta Express Entry stream and Alberta Opportunity stream. In 2020 alone, 35,519 foreign individuals immigrated to Alberta through the AINP
Immigration Streams offered under AINP
There are different types of immigration streams offered by the AINP.
Alberta Opportunity Stream
The Alberta Opportunity Stream is designed for foreign skilled workers and international graduates who are currently working or residing in the province. To be eligible for this stream, applicants need to have a valid job offer from Alberta based employer. Added eligibility requirements include work experience, education, and language proficiency.
Alberta Express Entry Stream
Introduced very recently to attract highly skilled foreign individuals and international graduates. Through this stream, the province selects eligible candidates for permanent residency who already have profiles in the Express Entry pool. Applicants who get the successful nomination through this stream are most likely to get Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residency as it increases the CSR score by 600 points.
Alberta Self Employed Farmer Stream
Foreign individuals with relevant experience of either owning and/or operating a farm can apply through the Alberta Self-Employed Farmer Stream to acquire Permanent Residency status. Applicants are required to demonstrate funding proofs that will be needed for setting up the business or farm. Additionally, a business plan has to be submitted as well. The Alberta Self Employed Farmer Stream is managed mutually by the Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AAF) and AINP.
Foreign Graduate Start-Up Visa
This immigration stream is aimed at welcoming recent international graduates with post-secondary credentials for Permanent Residency. Applicants who are looking to establish and manage a business in the Alberta province can apply through this stream. Candidates are required to submit a business plan and Expression of Interest to be eligible. Successful candidates will receive a letter of recommendation from designated agencies in Alberta.
